Founded in 2019, Finches is a British-made luxury silk brand rooted in heritage, craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Drawing inspiration from wildlife, the countryside, and the quiet beauty found in everyday moments, each design reflects Gemma’s enduring love of storytelling through imagery.
Every scarf begins with a photograph captured by Gemma herself. From behind the lens, the image is carefully reimagined and digitally designed before being printed onto the finest quality silk. The result is a piece that carries both artistry and meaning — what she fondly calls a “wearable memory.”
The name Finches holds a story close to Gemma’s heart.
At sixteen, she bought her first horse, Percy — an ex-racehorse whose racing name was Finch’s Gem. From the beginning, their connection felt meant to be. Over the next twenty years, Percy became far more than a horse; he was a companion, a constant, and a source of comfort through every season of life. When he passed, it was a profound loss — the loss of a best friend.
While preparing to launch her brand, Gemma struggled to find a name that truly felt right. Then one quiet day in the stable, it came to her. Finches. A tribute. A legacy. A way for Percy’s spirit to remain part of her journey, always.
Finches is built on the belief that the most meaningful creations are born from love, connection, and memory. Each scarf is designed not simply as an accessory, but as a piece to be treasured — a reflection of personal stories, friendships, passions, and moments that deserve to endure.
